AI Background Remover

Remove the background from any photo and download a transparent PNG — right in your browser, free, unlimited, no signup.

ℹ️ How this works: This tool uses an on-device AI model (Google's BodyPix) to detect people/foreground subjects and cut out the background. It works best on photos with a clear person or subject — busy backgrounds, fine hair strands, or non-person objects (e.g. products) may not be perfectly clean. The AI model (a few MB) downloads once from a public CDN the first time you use it; after that, everything runs locally — your photo is never uploaded anywhere.

🔒 Runs 100% in your browser via TensorFlow.js — your photo is never uploaded to any server.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of photos work best?

Portraits and photos with one or a few clear people against a reasonably distinct background give the cleanest results.

Why is edge detail sometimes imperfect?

The free on-device AI model isn't as precise as paid, server-based tools for fine details like flyaway hair — for most everyday photos the result is still clean and usable.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No — the AI model downloads once to your browser, and all processing after that happens on your own device.

Can I set a solid colour background instead of transparent?

Yes — pick a preset swatch or a custom colour, and it will be used as the new background before download.
